Try a couple of things:

1.) Send yourself an email at the cell phone address to make sure you have the correct email suffix
2.) Open a quick free gmail account and use the same settings that I have on picture 9 above
3.) Check your router to make sure the port is allowed by the firewall (you are using 2Wire?)

I have AT&T internet
Hotmail email
verizon wireless

can you help me fill in the blanks. I have tried a lots of different things and obviously lost.

Great writeup, thanks for sharing your experience. I get embarrassed when I see those giant error messages, I think you’ve motivated me to work on a minor update to fix that plus a couple other lingering issues.
